Risiede in Germania, Italia, Canada, USA, America Latina, Giappone.
The art of Riv Bulgari on display in Venice, Arte Laguna Prize 2024 – Arsenale Nord (tesa 98)
The American - Bulgarian artist selected for the important artistic event will be present with a solo exhibition – “Allusions” - of sculptures and paintings, from Nov 16 (5 pm) to Dec 8.
As citizen of the world, Riv Bulgari leaves Sofia with a passport and $ 200 in his pocket, animated by an intimate need to know the world, in order to be able to shape it.
He lives in Germany, Italy, Canada, USA, Japan, Latin America, etc. As a painter, sculptor, engraver, graphic designer, director and producer, he crosses different currents of the Great Century, having his creative power as his only guide.
New York city, the everchanging metropolis where he moves in 1997, become metaphor of his poetics. He meets Mark Kostabi, Jeff Koons, David Nicholson, Annie Leibovitz, Go Hotoda, etc. In 2000 he is granted US citizenship for his achievements in the fine art.
Sculptures from 2015 on are so interesting because of their mirror surfaces: so the viewer became part of the artworks themselves: for their importance, they are included in the book “The thin line”, that reflects on what in art is valuable or kitsch.
Today he lives and works in the USA, Slovenia, Bulgaria.
As Ariadne Caccavale, curator of the exhibition says, we are in front of «hybrid sculptures and paintings. Surrealist and irrational, these masterpieces mix male and female, men and machines: the final result is a modernity made up of paradox, irreverence, chimeras, estrangement elements, crisis of identity».
